KNIT for FREE!
I'm very happy to annouce that I'm opening up my How To Knit Online Classe to anyone who's interested! That sister in law with whom you've longed to share knitting love? Now she can learn without swearing at you!
I will teach Casting On, the Purl Stitch, the Knit Stitch, Binding off and give a general overview of knit fabric. Both the Western and Combination methods will be covered.
Learn To Knit
After offering a preview of the self-guided class to 20 folks, I'm opening up the free class to everyone (starting with my dear Newsletter readers - thanks again for being part of my online community!)
The classes are taught through a private network at ning.com (if you join my Online Teaching Network there - it's free! - you can stay up to date on any new classes I post, or discounts I offer!)
To sign up for the class you have to add it to your shopping cart by clicking on the button above. You'll go through the same checkout procedure as for my other classes. Fear not, though, the knit class is really free!
The checkout is partly for my own record keeping, and partly to acquaint folks with the process of signing up for a class (hoping they'll not be deterred by the process when in future they consider a more advanced class!)
What would YOU like?
I'm constantly working on more classes, hoping to add a few before we leave for IRELAND in May. Stay tuned for details! And be sure to let me know what classes would appeal to you, I'd love to know!
For more information on what the classes entail and how to go about registering, visit anniemodesitt.com/onlineclasses to register right away (use code "newsletter" for 10% off any class price!)
Gluten Free Lemon Soufflé
So, about that Fibromyalgia diagnosis, it turns out it may be one of the better things to happen to me in the past few years.
I mentioned in my last email that the diagnostic process was much easier than many folks have, and since then I've felt better than I have in years. My mental clarity is much sharper, my overall health is better, and I'm not aching all the time.
I've had a few days of pain, usually when I do something foolish like eat wheat (knowingly, or unknowingly) but this just highlights to me that a large portion of my problem HAS been a sensitivity to wheat. Which is a shame, because I do love it, but I love feeling well much better!
The worst thing would have been to continue on as I was going - in pain, confused, barely pulling it together (and losing it often enough to scare me.) I'm happy to be healthier, and look forward to even greater health in the summer when I'm able to get out and ride my bike!
My health is iffy enough that I just don't feel secure in setting up teaching dates, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to do the several-weeks long engagement tours I'd been doing in the past few years, but be assured that when I DO offer dates one of the first places I'll announce them will be my newsletter!
|Did I Say Ireland?
It's not every day that an opportunity opens up to take the family to the "old country" - but that's exactly what happened!
I registered our St. Paul home with a global home sharing scheme, but instead of hearing from a family in Scotland as I'd envisioned, we were contacted by a lovely family in Ireland who want to attend their son's law school graduation in the twin cities.
It was just too good of an opportunity to pass up - 3 weeks in Ireland for the cost of 2 airline tickets (using frequent flier miles for the other 2)
We'll be up in Raphoe, in the North West part of Ireland, from May 1 - May 24, when I return home just in time for TNNA in Columbus, OH.
I haven't specifically set up any appearances, I haven't felt secure enough in my health to plan anything with Summer classes coming up on the heels of Ireland, but I would LOVE to meet as many Irish knitters as I could while I'm there - maybe visit a knitting group?
La Dolce Knit, Sept 2010
Aren't you read right about now for a lovely knitting holiday in the Roman countryside?
You could be knitting al fresco in September on a wonderful holiday arranged by Tactile Travel. All you have to do is pay, show up and relax (and knit!)

August in Stirling, Scotland
I'll be teaching at Stirling, Scotland for Knit Camp UK Aug 9 - 13. I'd love to see you there!
Registration is open & the classes are filling up FAST!
Columbus in June
I'm investigating the possibility of offering some classes while in Columbus, Ohio in June. Stay tuned for more information as the plan comes together - it's just a dream now, baby!
