Introducing Carissa!

Annie Face
And, because I find it impossible to say "No" to either Amanda or Beth, I present Carissa!

I'd been asked by the fine, fine ladies (and I use that term advisedly) from Lorna's Laces if I'd rework a design I created for them a few years ago, to highlight their new lovely yarn, Honor (70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk)

Carissa is a longer version of Karis (nee Caris) for folks who prefer a sweater that - well - will be longer.

Same charts, same asymetrical fit, same cables and lace - but this time it's a longer knit. So enjoy Carissa!

HoTN Has A Tech Editor!

I'm thrilled to announce I've engaged a tech editor for a pattern by pattern work-over of History on Two Needles, which puts me one step closer to completion. Finally.

Of course, there are STILL patterns to write, but now I have a place to send them when they're finished!

If you're interested in my work on the book thus far, you can see progress shots at my Ravelry page.

Birthplace of the Bike?

Freedom!
DAMN I look good on a bike...

This Thursday I leave for UK Knit Camp UK Aug 9 - 13.  I'm SO excited to be returning to Scotland, anxious to see friends I made last year and I think I've found a bike rental!

In my preparations I discovered that the father (?) of the bike is none other than Scotsman Macmillan Kirkpatrick, who never patented his invention of a levered pedal, but he did ride it 14 miles to Dumfries in less than an hour, and that's good enough for me!

I've arranged to rent a bike from Callandar, so I'll be tooling around the Stirling University campus - give me a wave if you see me!

Frascati
, Sept 2010

It's down to the wire - you could be enjoying our own knitterly interpretation of Eat, Pray, Love (well, the eating portion... plus knitting!) with other kniters in beautiful Frascati, Italy and classes with me!

This wonderful holiday is arranged by Tactile Travel.  To book it visit tactiletravel.com

New Class Pricing

July classes went BEAUTIFULLY and the students learned - and taught me - SO much! A 2 week computer meltdown in the last half of July left me not as engaged as I'd like, but I was still able to be visible and helpful enough to get everyone to their own finishing point.

There has been such interest in the self guided option for the classes that I've added one for EACH class. When you sign up for the self guided, not only do you save $10, but you work on your own schedule.

The guided classes are setup to run one calendar month. With the self guided you determine when you begin (and you have at least 4 weeks past that date to complete your materials.)

More time can be purchased at the end of the class at $10 per month if you feel you need it. All classes are priced as follows: Guided $50, Self Guided (no chats) $40.

NEW! Lace Bootcamp (to help you learn charts and make friends with lace)
NEW! Twisted Float Shrug (Seen on the Vogue Winter 2005 cover, with an easier pattern!)
Combination Knitting (SO much more than the "Learn to Knit class")
Universal Mitered Handbag (if you can knit & purl, you can DO this!)

Visit http://www.onlineknittingclasses.com for more information and to register! NOTE: The next guided classes start in October, so if you'd like to jump in before then, self guided is your best bet!
